Vehicle Overview

This 1989 BMW M3 is powered by a rebuilt 2.3-liter S14 inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission and is finished in Alpine White II over black leather. Equipment includes a limited-slip differential, 16? basketweave wheels, tinted glass, Ground Control suspension components, a sunroof, a rear spoiler, fog lights, front sport seats, air conditioning, and an onboard computer. The car was listed on BaT in October 2020, and the current owner acquired the car in July 2021, later adding 2k of the 68k miles shown. This E30 M3 is now offered on dealer consignment with the removed cassette stereo, the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, a tool kit, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title.

The car is finished in Alpine White II and features an electric sunroof, a rear spoiler, fog lights, painted mirror caps, twin exhaust outlets, and wider fenders compared to the standard E30. Miscellaneous chips are noted, and the selling dealer notes evidence of a prior repaint.

Replacement 16? basketweave wheels feature BMW center caps and are wrapped in 205/50 Michelin Premier A/S tires. The MacPherson strut/semi-trailing arm suspension was revised for the M3 with shorter and stiffer springs, and this example is fitted with a Weichers Sport front strut tower brace along with Ground Control height-adjustable coilovers.

The cabin features manually adjustable front sport seats as well as a rear bench upholstered in black leather. Amenities include an onboard computer, an aftermarket Alpine Bluetooth stereo, a trunk-mounted JL Audio subwoofer, air conditioning, cruise control, and power windows, mirrors, and locks. The air conditioning compressor was replaced in April 2019, and the removed cassette radio shown in the gallery is included in the sale.

The three-spoke M-Tech I steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for oil temperature, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 68k miles.

The 2.3-liter S14 inline-four was rebuilt in October 2018 by Steve’s Auto Center of Azusa, California, following an engine failure in August 2018. The engine now reportedly utilizes a lightweight crankshaft and flywheel as well as a Turner Motorsport ECU chip. In January 2019, the water pump, intake manifold, and spark plugs were replaced, and service in May 2021 included replacing the coolant level sensor, engine air filter, and engine oil. The valve cover and oil pan are seeping.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Getrag five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The transmission oil was replaced in May 2021. The 2021 service indicated that the catalytic converters will require replacement, and a passed California emissions inspection from October 2021 is shown in the Carfax report.
