This 1988 BMW M3 is one of approximately 5,300 examples produced for the North American market between 1987 and 1990. Finished in Salmon Silver Metallic over black Bison leather, the car is powered by a 2.3-liter S14B23 inline-four mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Additional equipment includes 15? basketweave wheels, a sunroof, a rear spoiler, fog lights, a Turner Motorsports front subframe reinforcement kit, front sport seats, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, air conditioning, and an onboard computer. Acquired by its current owner in 2025, this E30 M3 shows 49k miles and is now offered on dealer consignment in California with a BMW Classic Birth Certificate, manufacturer’s literature, touch-up paint, partial service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Illinois title.

The car is finished in Salmon Silver Metallic (203) and features a replacement electric sunroof that was fitted in April 2021. Further details include a rear spoiler, fog lights, painted mirror caps, twin exhaust outlets, and wider fenders compared to the standard E30. Photos of paint meter readings are viewable in the gallery below.

The 15? basketweave wheels feature BMW center caps and are wrapped in 205/55 Yokohama Advantage Fleva tires. A Turner Motorsports front subframe reinforcement kit was installed in April 2021, and the MacPherson strut/semi-trailing arm suspension was revised for the M3 with a thicker rear anti-roll bar as well as shorter and stiffer springs. The brake fluid was flushed in June 2024.

The cabin features manually adjustable front sport seats as well as a rear bench upholstered in black Bison leather. The front seat struts were replaced and the air conditioning system was converted to utilize R134a refrigerant in April 2021, while the final stage resistor was replaced in July 2024. Amenities include an onboard computer, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, cruise control, and power windows, mirrors, and locks.

The three-spoke M-Tech I steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer alongside gauges for oil temperature, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 49k miles, approximately 500 of which have been added under current ownership.

The 2.3-liter S14 inline-four was factory rated at 192 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. Work since 2021 involved changing the fluids, adjusting the valves, resealing the intake manifold, and replacing the valve cover gasket, engine mounts, ignition wires, spark plugs, power steering lines, and hood support struts.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Getrag five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The muffler hanger was replaced in April 2021, and the fluids were changed in June 2024.

The BMW Classic Birth Certificate lists factory colors and a production date of June 02, 1987. Partial service records will also accompany the vehicle.
