This 1998 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa was purchased by the current owner on BaT in February 2021 and has since added approximately 1,500 of the 70k miles shown. The car is powered by a 3.6-liter flat-six paired with a six-speed manual transaxle and is finished in Arena Red Metallic over Cashmere Beige leather. Equipment includes the Motor Sound Package, a limited-slip differential, 17? two-piece Targa wheels, a power-operated glass roof panel, power-adjustable front seats, cruise control, air conditioning, and Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) Infotainment with navigation. This 993 Targa is now offered on dealer consignment with a Porsche Classic Technical certificate, the owner’s manual, service records, two keys, removed radio, tool roll, jack kit, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title.
The 993 Targa was based on the convertible bodyshell and featured a revised roof with a lifting and sliding glass center section as opposed to the removable top found on earlier 911 Targa models. This example is finished in Arena Red Metallic (L84S) and features headlight washers, fog lights, power-adjustable mirrors, a speed-activated rear spoiler, stainless-steel dual exhaust outlets, and a “basket handle” rear spoiler with an integrated brake light. A body shop repair invoice from March 2019 is provided in the gallery. A dent in the left quarter panel was repaired, and the hood and decklid shocks were replaced in April 2021.
Targa-specific two-piece 17? Speedline wheels are mounted with Bridgestone Potenza S-02A tires. The car is equipped with an Automatic Braking Differential (ABD), and braking is handled by Porsche-branded calipers over cross-drilled rotors at all four corners. The front shocks, strut mounts, and sway bar links were replaced in 2021.
The power-adjustable front seats are trimmed in Cashmere Beige leather and joined by black upper surfaces. Cabin amenities include a wood-trimmed shift knob and handbrake lever, as well as Coco floor mats, cruise control, air conditioning, and Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) Infotainment with navigation. The shifter and selector were replaced in July 2023. The driver’s seat bolsters show signs of wear.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a central tachometer with a 6,800-rpm redline, a 180-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, oil level, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 70k miles, approximately 1,500 of which were added under current ownership.
The air-cooled 3.6L M64 flat-six features a VarioRam intake system and was factory-rated at 282 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. The car is equipped with the optional Motor Sound Package, which added a revised intake and mufflers. The crankshaft position sensor, a fuel pump, and the DME relay were replaced in April 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transaxle and an optional limited-slip differential. The linkage shaft, rod bushings, and angular joints were replaced in July 2023.
