This 1957 Porsche 356A Speedster underwent refurbishment with a prior owner between 2004 and 2006. Work reportedly included rebuilding the air-cooled 1.6L flat-four and four-speed manual transaxle, overhauling the suspension and brake systems, refurbishing the gauges and brightwork, reupholstering the interior, replacing the soft top, and repainting the body in Ruby Red. Additional details include 15? steel wheels, drum brakes, fixed-back bucket seats, salt-and-pepper square weave carpets, and dual Zenith carburetors. This Speedster was acquired by the current owner in 2014 and is now offered on dealer consignment in California with a copy of the Kardex, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, the owner’s manual, a tool roll, service records, and a clean Minnesota title.
The car left the factory finished in Ruby Red (5802) and was repainted circa 2004. At that time, the brightwork was refinished, and the soft top, windshield, and miscellaneous seals were replaced. Features include sealed-beam headlights, headlight grilles, a left side-view mirror, and bumper overriders.
The 15? ventilated steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and are mounted with 165-series Nankang tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes.
The fixed-back bucket seats are upholstered in black leather, and interior appointments include salt-and-pepper square-weave carpets, a passenger-side grab handle, and a body-color painted dashboard.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames a central 6k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and a combination gauge monitoring oil temperature and oil pressure. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 61k miles.
The air-cooled 1.6L flat-four is equipped with dual Zenith carburetors.
The engine stamp reads P*65169*, which matches the engine number noted on the copy of the Kardex and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity shown below.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle that is stamped with the identification number 14058, which matches the transmission number also listed on the Kardex copy and Certificate of Authenticity.
A copy of the Kardex lists a build date of April 15, 1957 along with initial delivery to Hoffman, New York.
The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity shows the factory colors and serial numbers.
