Vehicle Overview
Now available on Bring a Trailer Auctions : 37-Years-Family-Owned 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible 289 4-Speed This 1965 Ford Mustang convertible is finished in Raven Black over black vinyl and is powered by a replacement 289ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. It has a white soft top, 14? styled steel wheels, front disc brakes, GT-style equipment, Rally-Pac gauges, front bucket seats, and a radio. The car was refurbished before being acquired by the current owner’s late father in 1988. This Mustang is now offered on dealer consignment as part of the Mohr Imports Car Week Collection: Postcards from Monterey with the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, and a clean California title. The car is finished in Raven Black and was repainted in 2012 apart from the valances and jambs. Dents on the trunk lid were repaired at that time, and red GT-style stripes were applied to the lower body. Additional GT-style equipment includes grille lights and dual exhaust tips exiting through the rear valance. There is a tear in the white soft top and a scratch on one of the quarter panels. The 14? styled steel wheels were mounted with 205/75 Travelstar UN106 tires in 2025. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums, and the car is equipped with power steering. The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench that were re-trimmed in black vinyl with Pony trim in 2012. Replacement carpets were also installed at that time, and the car is equipped with a radio, wood veneer trim, and a center console. Instrumentation consists of a 140-mph speedometer flanked by gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, amperage, and coolant temperature. A Rally-Pac 8k-rpm tachometer and analog clock are mounted aft the steering wheel. The five-digit odometer was reset to zero at the time of the 1980s refurbishment, and it now shows 2,300 miles. Total mileage is unknown. The replacement 289ci V8 has been fitted with a Holley four-barrel carburetor. The battery was replaced in April 2025. The removed Autolite carburetor is included in the sale and shown in the gallery. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a rear axle with 3.50:1 gears. Photos of various stampings and castings are provided in the gallery.
