This 1967 Fiat Dino Spider is one of approximately 1,130 produced between 1966 and 1969. It was imported to the US under previous ownership and acquired by the current owner in 2002. The car is a running project finished in red over black leather upholstery and powered by a Ferrari-designed 2.0-liter V6 paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes 14? Cromodora alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, Koni shock absorbers, a black convertible top, quad headlights, Ferrari-style fender shields, an Ansa exhaust system, front bucket seats, and an aftermarket stereo. This Dino Spider is now offered on dealer consignment at no reserve in California as part of The LeVett Collection with a clean California title.

Styled by Pininfarina, the Dino Spider debuted at the Turin Motor Show in October 1966 and was initially assembled at Fiat’s factory outside Turin, Italy, before production later switched to Maranello. This example was previously blue and was repainted red under previous ownership. The black convertible top was replaced, and additional features include Ferrari-style fender shields, quad headlights, a driver-side mirror, front vent windows, chrome bumpers, and Ansa exhaust outlets. The car was inspected in preparation for the sale and the report notes that the windshield wipers and reverse lights are inoperative, the high beams cannot be turned off, the gas cap door latch and left vent wing latch are missing, the front side marker lamps are mismatched, the trunk hold-open is bent, and there are no keys for the door locks.

The 14? Cromodora light alloy wheels wear Ferrari-style three-eared knock-off spinners and were mounted with 185-section Michelin MXV-P tires in preparation for the sale. The car rides on an independent front suspension as well as a live rear axle supported by longitudinal leaf springs, and Koni shock absorbers are fitted at all four corners. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. According to the inspection report, the rear brakes drag and overheat, the parking brake hardware is seized, and the exhaust system interferes with the rear brake pressure valve link is damaged. Furthermore, the lower ball joints and rear leaf spring bushings are worn, and the tie rods and center steering link have torn boots.

The 2+2 cabin houses front bucket seats and individually contoured rear seats trimmed in black leather upholstery. Appointments include an aftermarket stereo, a Pininfarina dashboard plaque, a heater, manually operated side windows, a crossed Ferrari and Pininfarina flag dash badge, a Ferrari-style shift knob, and a locking glove box. The center console trim is missing, a crack is visible on the driver’s door armrest, and the rear seat upholstery is separating. The inspection notes that the heater and vent systems, dashboard switches, horn, and interior lights do not work. Additionally, the headlamp control switch is missing, the glove box hardware is damaged, and the door panels have been cut and show evidence of moisture exposure.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel features a Dino horn button and frames Veglia Borletti instrumentation including a tachometer with an 8k-rpm redline, a 250-km/h speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 16k kilometers (~10k miles). Total mileage is unknown.

The 2.0-liter 65° V6 was designed by Ferrari and features aluminum construction, quad chain-driven overhead camshafts, and triple Weber downdraft carburetors. Engine output was factory rated at 160 horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque. A Facet electric fuel pump and a Magneti Marelli ignition coil are fitted. The oil was changed in preparation for the sale. The inspection notes a miss at idle and off-idle and an acceleration flat spot at 2,500 rpm with rough performance. Additional engine bay notes include an improperly installed exhaust, oil leaking onto the alternator, and aged fuel lines, and a weak battery.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The inspection report notes that the clutch is adjusted too tight, the second gear synchro is weak, the transmission output seal is leaking, and the transmission rear mount is damaged.

The California title lists the car’s VIN as 135A0000370, which omits the “S” in the chassis number stamp.

The LeVett estate will donate a portion of the winning bid on this auction to the Doris Day Animal Foundation, a 501(c)(3) Public Charity founded in 1978.
