Vehicle Overview
Ending Saturday, August 9th at 10:23am PST on Bring a Trailer Auctions : 1,275cc-Powered 1965 Austin Mini Moke This 1965 Austin Mini Moke was built in May 1965 and underwent a four-year refurbishment that was completed in 2018, including the installation of a replacement body, a rebuilt 1,275cc inline-four, reupholstered seats, and an overhaul of the suspension. It was previously sold on BaT in May 2019 and was fitted with front disc brakes and LED headlights after being acquired by the current owner later that year. The car is finished in green over green vinyl and is equipped with a four-speed manual transaxle, tubular bumpers, a green soft top, 12? Minilite-style wheels, and Smiths instrumentation. This Mini Moke is now offered on dealer consignment as part of the Mohr Imports’ Monterey Car Week Collection with service records, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean California title, listing it as a 1966 model year. Finished from the factory in Spruce Green, the car was fitted with a replacement body sourced from M Parts in Cowbridge, Wales and was repainted during the refurbishment. A replacement windshield and a green soft top were also installed at that time, while LED headlights were added in February 2022. The 12? Minilite-style alloy wheels are wrapped in Falken Ziex ZE914 tires. Front disc brakes were installed in 2019, and the suspension was refreshed during the refurbishment. The seat frames were repainted and reupholstered in green vinyl during the refurbishment. Lap belts are fitted for all four occupants. The two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a Smiths 130-mph speedometer and Bosch gauges for water temperature, voltage, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 6k miles, approximately 5k of which were added during current ownership. The 1,275cc A-series inline-four was rebuilt during the refurbishment and reportedly bored 0.020? over. The crankshaft is said to have been reground 0.01? undersize by Speed Performance Engineering of Wauconda, Illinois. A Mini Cooper-specification cylinder head was installed featuring a replacement camshaft drive chain, valve springs, and camshaft followers, along with following components: The oil pump, radiator, wiring looms, and alternator were also replaced along with the fuel tank, pump, and lines. Work in 2019 involved replacing the SU carburetor, clutch, distributor cap, rear main seal, spark plugs, and ignition wires as well as installing a spin-on oil filter. An aluminum valve cover and replacement gasket were installed in 2021 and an oil change was performed in 2025. Power is delivered to the front wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. A replacement exhaust system was installed during the refurbishment. The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists the factory colors and delivery to New York on May 6, 1965.
