"First of two Premium listings is this 2003 Aston Martin DB AR1 (American Roadster), an open-top variant of the DB7 Zagato that features aluminum bodywork with the coachbuilder’s trademark “double bubble” styling. Number 29 of 99 built, the car is finished in Orient Blue and equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox."

This 2003 Aston Martin DB AR1 is number 29 of 99 examples built and is finished in Orient Blue over tan Bridge of Weir leather upholstery. Power comes from a 5.9-liter V12 paired with a six-speed manual transmission, and equipment includes a double-bubble rear fairing, 18? alloy wheels, multi-piston brake calipers, diamond-stitched interior accents, a rear cargo shelf, power-adjustable heated seats, automatic climate control, and a factory stereo. The current owner acquired the car in late 2017, and it now shows 4,400 miles. This DB AR1 is now offered on dealer consignment in California as part of the Mohr Imports Monterey Collection Sale with an owner’s manual, a build booklet, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Illinois title in the name of the owner’s LLC.

The “American Roadster 1” was introduced in 2003 as the open-top variant of the DB7 Zagato, which was designed in a partnership between Aston Martin and Italian coachbuilder Zagato and introduced the preceding year. The hand-formed aluminum body incorporated a larger front grille compared with the standard DB7 as well as a special “double-bubble” rear fairing and a revised tail panel with a pair of round taillights and an integrated spoiler. This example is said to be finished in Orient Blue, and it is not equipped with a top.

Five-spoke 18? alloy wheels are mounted with 225/40 front and 275/35 rear Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires. Each corner is equipped with silver multi-piston brake calipers on slotted rotors.

The interior is trimmed in tan Bridge of Weir leather with diamond-stitched accents on the rear luggage shelf as well as on the power-adjustable and heated seats. Other amenities include automatic climate control and an AM/FM/cassette stereo with a six-disc CD changer.

A leather-wrapped steering wheel sits ahead of white instrumentation that includes a 200-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer shows approximately 4,400 miles, less than 1k of which have been added by the current owner.

The luggage shelf features leather straps and is split by a support that extends from the console and integrates with the double-bubble rear fairing.

The 5.9-liter V12 features aluminum-alloy construction, four camshafts, and 48 valves. Factory-rated output was 435 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. Aston Martin claimed that the car could accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and achieve a top speed of 185 mph when new.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery below.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists registration activity in Illinois and Wisconsin. Multiple passed California emissions tests are documented, most recently in July 2021.
