This 1972 Alfa Romeo GTV is finished in green over tan upholstery and is powered by a 2.0L twin-cam inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes SPICA mechanical fuel injection, an oil-pan guard, 14? Cromodora wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, and a Kenwood stereo. Service since 2015 has included fitting the fuel-injection system, rebuilding the transmission, fluid changes, and replacement of the front brake calipers, front and rear brake pads, a window regulator, driveshafts, U-joints, battery, and exhaust hangers. This GTV is now offered with $16k in receipts from 2015 onward, correspondence from Alfa Romeo Classiche, a tool roll, and a California salvage title.
The car was delivered new in Light Moss Green (Verde Muschio Chiaro/227) and is said to have been issued salvage title in the 1980s. The body was refinished in green at some point in the 1990s, and rust and imperfections are noted by the seller. The paintwork and exterior trim are shown up close in the photo gallery below.
Silver-painted 14? Cromodora wheels are mounted with 185/70 Michelin Defender tires that show 2019 date codes. Disc brakes are fitted at each corner. The rear brake pads were replaced in 2015, and in 2016 the front calipers and pads were replaced. The braking system was flushed in 2020, at which time the idler arm was rebuilt.
The interior features bolstered front seats and a rear bench with tan upholstery. Peppered gray carpeting covers the floors, and an Alpine stereo is mounted in the wood-trimmed dashboard. The inner shifter boot and the passenger-side window regulator have been replaced.A three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Jaeger instrumentation that includes a tachometer with an inset oil-pressure gauge, a 140-mph speedometer, and gauges for fuel level and water temperature. In 2016 the cable for the tachometer was replaced. The five-digit odometer shows 23k miles, and true mileage is unknown.
The 2.0-liter DOHC inline-four was fitted with SPICA mechanical fuel injection by B. Metras Company of San Rafael, California from 2015 to 2016. Additional work during this time included rebuilding the gearbox with replacement syncros and seals, fluid changes, setting ignition timing, and replacing the driveshafts, driveshaft support, pinion seal, exhaust hangers, and air filter. In 2018 the upper timing chain and battery were replaced by The Sports Car Shop of Monterey, California. In 2020 the same shop changed the fluids for the clutch system, cooling system, gearbox, and differential as well as replaced the U-joints.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. An oil-pan guard is mounted at the front of the car, and rust is noted on underbody componentry. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery below.
Correspondence from Alfa Romeo Classiche indicates the factory color scheme as well as a production date of May 19, 1972 and shipment to the United States.
