This 1948 Willys-Overland Jeepster is powered by a replacement 148ci “Lighting” inline-six mated to a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive and is finished in yellow over black vinyl upholstery. Equipment includes a black canvas soft top, a matching boot cover, 15? steel wheels, chrome bumpers, dual spotlights, and a cabin heater. The truck was reportedly refurbished under previous ownership and was acquired by the current owner, Monterey Touring Vehicles, on BaT in November 2017 and subsequently used as part of their rental fleet. Work performed under current ownership involved overhauling the transmission, adjusting the carburetor, replacing the wheels, and repairing the overdrive cable and clutch pedal linkage. This Jeepster is now offered as part of the Monterey Touring Vehicles collection at no reserve on dealer consignment with a clean California title listing the truck as a 1949 Willys.

The truck is finished in yellow with black accents around the passenger compartment and was repainted under previous ownership. Features include a black canvas soft top with red piping, a matching boot cover, bright bumpers, side steps, dual spotlights, and hooded headlights. Blemishes include a scratch on the passenger-side fender, dings on the driver-side door and front wing, and a tear in the boot cover. The doors are misaligned, and the right-front marker light trim ring set screw is missing.

The red-finished 15? steel wheels were replaced in November 2021 and wear Willys-logo chrome hubcaps and 6.70-15? Denman Columbia Deluxe whitewall tires, while a matching spare is mounted on the rear carrier. Stopping power is provided by drums at all four corners.

The interior features a split-folding front bench that has been reupholstered in black vinyl with white piping, while the exposed metal surfaces are finished in yellow. Rubberized floor mats line the footwells, and appointments include a cabin heater, a passenger grab handle, lap belts, and a locking glove compartment.

The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and sits ahead of a centrally mounted instrument panel consisting of a 70-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, amperage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. An additional VDO-branded gauge for coolant temperature is mounted below the dashboard. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 45k miles, approximately 1,500 of which were added under current ownership.

The replacement 148ci “Lighting” straight-six features a side-valve head, and service in March 2021 involved adjusting the carburetor, replacing the spark plugs, and changing the oil.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive that was rebuilt in January 2021. The clutch pedal assembly was repaired in January 2019, and the overdrive cable was repaired in August 2022. Corrosion is visible on underside components, and additional underbody photos are provided in the gallery below.

Service records for work performed under current ownership are included in the sale.

The truck’s data tag displays serial number 4637705, which is consistent with a 1948 Willys-Overland. The California title lists the vehicle as a 1949 model year.
