This 1960 Porsche 356B Roadster is noted as having a build completion date of May 10,1959 and was sold out of Competition Motors of Hollywood, California.

The roadster model was introduced in 1960 as a replacement for the one-year-only Convertible D. This 356B roadster is offered out of our Monterey, California showroom, with a clean Nevada title.

S/N 86851 is the 20th T-5 example built, and features front fog lights, a single grille, a luggage rack, front and rear disc brakes with coachwork by Drauz. All panels are original and matching.

Originally painted in Ruby Red (Rubinrot) over Light Brown Leatherette, but now presented in black paint.

The car has four documented owners from new, first being a buyer out of Las Vegas, Nevada before spending nearly four decades in California. The car comes to us from a very enthusiastic Porsche Club of America and 356 Registry owner. Our Roadster did spend some time in Germany as a project car, before being shipped to San Francisco and reuniting with a previous owner.

A cosmetic refurbishment was performed in the mid 2000’s and included repainting the car in black and reupholstering the interior in tan leather.

Power currently comes from a non-matching 1.6-liter engine that is modified with a 1750 kit, 912 heads and a 12-volt system. The correct numbers matching motor does accompany the sale. Pictures of the correct 1.6-liter flat-four motor showing *600186* can be found in our gallery and on the Porsche CoA. The four-speed transaxle is original, also with matching numbers.

Ventilated 15? steel wheels are finished with faux Rudge knock-off hubcaps and wear Continental TrueContact tires.

The interior was reupholstered in the mid-2000s and features a tan leather dash pad, door panels, and seats, along with matching square-weave carpets and black rubber floor mats. The reclining seats were a factory option and there are door pockets with locking clasps.

The Moto-Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel is excellent to steer from, giving you views of the 5-k-rpm redline tachometer, as well as a 120-mph speedometer and combination gauge for oil temperature and fuel level.

A stunning example of a rare Porsche in the most desirable period, this 356 Roadster runs like a top with its uprated motor, but still offers collectability by having its numbers-matching motor and being presented in excellent condition.
