This 1956 Ford Thunderbird has been refinished in white over a two-tone red and white interior, and its 312ci V8 is paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Features include a matching porthole hardtop, 15? wheels with wire-style hubcaps, an AM/FM radio with an eight-track player, and air conditioning. The current owner acquired the car in 2012 and has since added approximately 1k miles. Service in May 2021 included an inspection and an oil change. This Thunderbird is now offered on dealership consignment with a clean California title.

The car has been refinished in white in favor of its factory-delivered Raven Black (A) and features a removable hardtop with porthole windows as well as rear fender skirts. The car is not equipped with a soft top, and the paintwork and exterior trim are shown up close in the photo gallery below.

Steel 15? wheels wear wire-style Ford hubcaps and are mounted with Coker Classic whitewall tires. A Continental kit is mounted at the rear.

The car received a red and white interior from the factory, and features include a two-tone bench seat, red floor mats, air conditioning, and a Thunderbird-branded AM/FM radio with an eight-track player. The dome light and the reverse lights are inoperable, and the power seat is noisy.

A three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of instrumentation that includes a 150-mph speedometer, a 5k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and smaller auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows just under 74k miles, and true mileage is unknown.

The 312ci P-code V8 received a four-barrel carburetor from the factory, and an electronic ignition module has been installed. Work by Bay Service Automotive of Monterey, California in May 2021 included an inspection, an oil change, and replacement of the oil-pressure switch. The receipt in the gallery indicates that the passenger-side tailpipe is making contact with the body and rattles during turns.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery.

The serial number reveals that the car is a 1956 model built at the Dearborn, Michigan plant powered by a 312ci V8 with a four-barrel carburetor. The data plate shown above decodes as follows:

  • Body 40A – Thunderbird
  • Color A – Raven Black paintwork
  • Trim XB – Red & White interior
  • 17A – January 17 build date
  • BX – New York dealer district code
  • 59 – 59th vehicle scheduled for assembly on build date
