Vehicle Overview

This 1970 Datsun 240Z is said to have been sold new at Coast Datsun in Huntington Beach, California, and it was purchased by the current owner in 2015 and subsequently refurbished. Work included a repaint in red, rebuilding the engine, refinishing the suspension, and refreshing the black vinyl interior. The car is powered by a 2.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 14? slotted aluminum wheels, chrome bumpers, a wood shift knob and steering wheel, and a push-button radio. This Series I 240Z was listed on BaT in December 2021 and is now offered on dealer consignment as part of the Mohr Imports Monterey Collection Sale with service records, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean California title.

The body is said to have been refinished in Monte Carlo Red (905) using single-stage paint by GA Coachworks of San Diego, California under current ownership. The refurbishment included stripping the body, straightening the panels, repairing rust, and refinishing the trim. The grille and taillight surround were refinished in metallic gray.

The refurbished interior features bucket seats that were reupholstered in black vinyl complemented by diamond-stitched vinyl along the transmission tunnel and the rear strut supports. The matching dashboard, carpeting, door panels, and rear interior panels were reportedly replaced during the refurbishment by Arjays Upholstery in Chula Vista, California. Amenities include a rear window defroster with vertical lines, a center console, a wood shift knob, and a Hitachi push-button radio with a power antenna.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a 20-to-160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline. Gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, amperage, and fuel level are fitted in the center stack along with an analog clock. The five-digit odometer shows 59k miles, approximately 3k of which have been added by the current owner.
