This 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS convertible is powered by an upgraded 409ci V8 and paired with a four-speed manual transmission. It was acquired in 2007 by the current owner, Hall of Fame baseball player Reggie Jackson. Finished in red over black, the car is equipped with a black soft top, 15? wheels with covers, power front disc brakes, power steering, SS bucket seats and badging, a tachometer, a Hurst shifter, and an auxiliary gauge pod under the dash. This Impala is now offered on dealership consignment in California with a clean Illinois title.

The car was delivered new in Honduras Maroon (948), and a replacement black soft top has been fitted under current ownership. Other features include a black boot cover, chrome-finished bumpers, 409 and SS badging, rocker-panel trim, and an engine-turned taillight panel.

Body-color 14? steel wheels wear spinner covers and 215/75 Starfire Flite-Line IV radial tires. Power-assisted front disc brakes have been added along with power steering, and a leak in the steering system was recently fixed.

The car received front bucket seats and black vinyl upholstery (815) from the factory, complemented by matching door panels, carpeting, and trim. The Hurst shifter is equipped with a cueball-style knob, and the selling dealer notes that the Chevrolet/Delco AM radio is inoperable.

A two-spoke steering wheel frames instrumentation that includes a horizontal 120-mph speedometer above a temperature gauge, a clock, and a fuel gauge. A tachometer has been mounted to the column, and an auxiliary gauge pod has been added under the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 86k miles, and true mileage is unknown.

A 409ci V8 was sourced from a different car and has been restamped to match this car’s chassis number, according to the seller. The casting numbers on the engine block indicate that it was manufactured in January 1962.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery below.
