This 1978 Citroën 2CV is a European-market example finished in beige over black vinyl and powered by a 602cc flat-twin paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Additional equipment includes a black roll-back soft top, rectangular headlights, 15” wheels, and four-wheel drum brakes. The car was imported to the US following a refurbishment in France that involved a repaint and replacement of the chassis. It was acquired on BaT in December 2017 by Monterey Touring Vehicles and joined their fleet of classic rental cars. Work performed under current ownership included replacing the valve cover gaskets, muffler, voltage regulator, and seat elastic as well as servicing the brakes, modifying the carburetor, and performing a tune-up. This 2CV is now offered as part of the Monterey Touring Vehicles collection at no reserve with a California title in the name of the owner’s business listing the car as a specially constructed vehicle with no model year.
The car was disassembled during the aforementioned refurbishment, and the body was repainted in beige before being fitted to a replacement chassis constructed from galvanized steel. Features include a black roll-back soft top, gray-finished bumpers, flip-up front windows, a left-side mirror, and rectangular headlights with body-color housings and yellow bulbs. Corrosion is visible on the left-front door and the exterior brightwork.
Gray-finished 15” three-lug steel wheels are mounted with 125-series Wearwell Classic LS01 tires. Maintenance performed in 2020 included adjusting the four-wheel drum brakes as well as the parking brake.
The cabin features bench seats trimmed in textured black vinyl with color-coordinated door panels and rubber floor coverings. The seat elastic bands were replaced in 2022.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames a Jaeger 130-km/h speedometer along with gauges for alternator output and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 46k kilometers (~29k miles), approximately 3k of which have been added under current ownership. True mileage is unknown.
The air-cooled 602cc flat-twin sends power to the front wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. Work performed under current ownership in 2020 included modifying the carburetor, performing a tune-up, and replacing the valve cover gaskets and muffler. The voltage regulator was replaced in 2021.

A removed chassis plate is shown above, and the number – 47KA6321 – is consistent with a 2CV6 produced in 1978.
A California Assigned Identification Number is affixed to the A-pillar and matches the VIN displayed on the current California title, which lists the car as a specially constructed vehicle with no model year. A redacted copy of the title is presented in the gallery.
