This Shelby Cobra is a CSX4000 continuation model that was purchased new by the current owner from Shelby American of Las Vegas, Nevada in 2007. The rolling chassis was transported to XKs Unlimited in San Luis Obispo, California, where it was assembled with a 427ci V8 and a Toploader four-speed manual transmission. Finished in silver with black stripes over a black leather interior, the car is also equipped with side pipes, a roll bar, chrome-finished bumpers, Simpson harnesses, tinted visors, 15? wheels with three-ear knockoffs, four-wheel disc brakes, MSD ignition, Holley dual-quad carburetors, and a 42-gallon fuel cell. Now showing 2,600 miles, this Cobra is offered on dealership consignment with its statement of origin, a build sheet, service records, a car cover, a tonneau cover, and a clean California title in the owner’s name that lists the car as a specially constructed vehicle.

The fiberglass bodywork is finished in Satin Silver (PPG 5832) with black “Le Mans” stripes and yellow “Rookie” accents on the driver-side front fender. Features include a chrome-finished roll hoop and bumpers as well as side exhaust pipes. The paintwork and exterior trim are shown up close in the photo gallery below.

The cockpit features a pair of bucket seats with black leather upholstery, and Shelby-logo floor mats protect the matching carpeting. Other equipment includes four-point Simpson harnesses, wing windows, tinted visors, and map pockets. The battery is located in the trunk, and a Hurst competition shifter has been installed.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel is mounted on a quick-release hub. Factory instrumentation includes a reverse-sweep 180-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The odometer shows approximately 2,600 miles, and a plaque on the passenger side of the dashboard shows the car’s serial number: CSX4869.

The 427ci Ford V8 is said to have been built to an 11:1 compression ratio with a Crower billet-steel crankshaft, JE Pistons forged pistons, CP-Carrillo forged connecting rods, a Crower roller camshaft, and T&D Machine Products rocker arms. Dual Holley four-barrel carburetors are paired with Cobra/427 air cleaners with K&N filters, and the cylinder heads wear Holman Moody finned valve covers. Other features include MSD ignition components as well as an Aviad high-capacity finned oil pan.

The four-speed manual gearbox was built by David Kee Toploader Transmissions and is paired with an aluminum flywheel and a McLeod Racing clutch assembly. The car is also equipped with a 42-gallon fuel cell. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery.

The state of California’s Bureau of Automotive Repair inspected the car in May 2008 and applied the information label above.

An accompanying statement of origin, a build sheet for the car and the engine, correspondence with XKs Unlimited, and service records are pictured below.

A walk-around tour is provided above, and the video below shows the engine starting.
